All teams of all classifications that intend to advance to their respective World Championship Tournament MUST participate in their respective NW National Championship, if offered. This means that “C” and “D” teams must participate in the Washington State NW National Championships. Any “E” team advancing to the “E” World Championship IS REQUIRED to participate in the “NW National E” Championship tournament on the weekend of August 25-26.
Any “B” team that participates in at least four (4) Washington State USSSA tournaments will be allowed to advance to the “B” World Championships.
“C” teams will have the opportunity to qualify for the World Championships in either of the two (2) “C” NITs here in Washington, through an NIT held in another state, by earning 1000 National points or by being the leader in National points after our State Championship Tournament.
“D” teams will have the opportunity through one of the three (3) “D” NITs here in Washington, the “D” World berthing tournament at the end of June, in one of the two (2) “C” NITs in Washington, through an NIT in another state, by earning 1000 National points or by being the leader in National points after our State Championship Tournament. There will also be a berth available at the Washington State NW National Championship Tournament on Labor Day weekend.
“E+” teams will receive an automatic berth by participating in a minimum of six (6) tournaments, with at least four (4) of those six (6) being “D” events.
“E” teams can earn a World berth by being awarded a berth through any “E” World berthing tournament and meeting all of the minimum requirements. Also, by earning a minimum of at least 100 points through tournament participation or by being the highest finishing “E” team in any tournament that awards a “D” World berth.
The winners of NITs will receive a paid berth to the World Championships. All other berths ARE NOT PAID unless the tournament director has advertised that they will pay for the berth.
Washington USSSA will do all that we can to procure additional berths, in all classifications, for any teams that do not qualify through the above methods. However, there are never any guarantees given during the season. In the past we have been able to help just about every team that has come to us, and we expect the same this year. Good luck to all teams.
