Kathy Seba

Kathy Seba, Female Player Category

Kathy, known as “Seba” in the softball community, has been involved with USSSA softball for over 20 years as a player, an umpire and coach. Her playing career began in the early 80’s in the “C” division of the Fort Dent Women’s League. In 1986, she decided to try her hand at upper level ball, all tried out for the Lady Coasters, one of the premier Washington “A” teams at the time. She made the squad, and with dedication and hard work earned a starting spot in left center field. Over the course of her career, Kathy has had the privilege of playing on some of the top Women’s and Mixed teams in our state, including Seattle Unlimited, Top Flight Softball Club, Dudley and DeMarini. Kathy currently plays with DaVinci’s Gourmet in the Mixed “C” program.

A career .675 hitter with the ability to hit both lines, with power if the situations call for it, Kathy is one of those hitters that opponents hate to face. She has always played an integral part of her teams’ successes, consistently leading her team in batting average and RBI’s. Kathy credits her coach from the Lady Coasters, Steve Rundle, for his leadership and guidance in teaching her how to be a smarter hitter and defensive player. She takes great pride in her understanding of the strategy of the game.

In tournament play, Kathy has been voted an All-Star many times. Most notably she has been selected to several major All Tournament teams, including the 1997 Women’s ‘B’ Western Regional in Ft. Collins, Colorado and the 1998 Women’s NIT in Lancaster, California where she was also selected as the Offensive MVP. She was also named the MVP at the 2002 Washington State Women’s State Championships.

Kathy is grateful for the people she has come to know and the friends she has made because of softball. She believes that USSSA softball is “the game” to play; she says it is a class act organization, from the executives in the top office to umpires on the field.

Bill Dunlap

Bill Dunlap, Male Player Category

Bill began his USSSA softball career in the mid 1980’s and returned in 1995. Bill enjoyed the camaraderie that softball offered. Bill feels that USSSA softball offers a well organized, but not stuffy, atmosphere that made his career both challenging and enjoyable. Bill was a hard, line drive hitter that could hit the long ball when the situation presented itself. His .600 plus batting average and 400 plus home runs rate him as one of the top players to participate in slow pitch. His 6’9” frame was very deceiving when watching his cat like quickness at shortstop. It was next to impossible to get a ball past the hole because of his great range at the position. Bill’s Slo-Pitch News softball club finished 5th in the USSSA Major World Series in 1992. During his career he collected numerous All-Tournament and MVP awards. Bill now enjoys time with his family and coaching his son in Little League baseball.

Harry Orr

Harry Orr, Manager/Coach

Harry Orr has been a Manager/Coach for 23 years, 14 of those with USSSA. Harry has Managed/Coached USSSA Men’s teams for the D, C, and B levels.  Some of the teams include The Forum, Pietro’s Pizza, Grannies, and the South King County Merchants.  Harry’s career statistics are impressive 1,289 wins and 863 losses for 599%.  In the USSSA program he posted 785 wins and 477 losses for 622%.  One of Harry’s most memorable USSSA event was when his Grannies team took second in the USSSA Men’s D State Championships which won the team a berth to the USSSA Men’s D Divisional title in Boise, Idaho. Harry had to explain to the team what winning the berth meant as this was new territory for them.  That year Grannies achieved 84 wins and only 20 losses for a winning percentage of 808. Harry began playing fast pitch softball in 1951 for the Air Force.  He switched to slow pitch and started coaching in 1969.  Harry switched his team to USSSA the year it was established in Washington State.  Also during that time he became an Area Director and joined the Men’s Classification Committee.  He became a Tournament Director in 1984 with four tournaments per year.  To this date those tournaments are still run is his name by his sons.  One of Harry’s favorite hobbies was to watch softball games, which helped for his insight for the USSSA Men’s Classification Committee and for recruitment to his team.  There are many players that rose through Harry’s “farm team system” to be top level players in USSSA.  Arlyn Wolanski, Wally Wright, Joe Orr, Rick Mobley, Ron Corrigan, Scott Sanek, Shane Whitezel, Dave Monk, Jerry Herrington, and Scott Shoffstall to name just a few.  He always found in them or fused into them the qualities of ability, commitment, and the chemistry of being a team player.  He also had three sons and other family members play for him as well.  Harry Orr loved USSSA for many reasons; competition, organization, classification, and camaraderie.  He enjoyed those qualities in all the states he competed in with USSSA.  One of Harry’s most memorable characteristics was displayed when a well struck softball came off of the bat, he would try to help it over the fence with lots of body language and his familiar cheer ‘Get Outta Here’.
